FCN ATTENDS BUCKINGHAM PALACE RECEPTION IN RECOGNITION OF COMMUNITY-BASED CANCER SUPPORT

Yesterday (30th April 2025) FCN attended an important reception at Buckingham Palace – recognising the vital role of charities and groups in supporting people with cancer.

The event was kindly hosted by The King, The Queen and The Duchess of Gloucester.

His Majesty The King praised the “community of care” of those who help cancer patients, for their humanity as well as their expertise.

In his message to attendees, he said: “While every patient’s journey may be different, together you are ensuring that a cancer diagnosis need never mean facing the future without hope and support.”

During the reception, FCN also spoke to Secretary of State for Health & Social Care The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP about some of the challenges people in farming and rural communities can face in accessing cancer support services.

FCN is working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to raise awareness of cancer risks, signs and symptoms in farming and rural communities, and to encourage early detection. We are also helping to tell the stories of people within our communities who have been affected by cancer, helping to reduce stigma and inform decision-makers of the unique barriers that can be faced.
