On Wednesday 26 October we held our National Celebration Event at Cheltenham Racecourse. This event – kindly sponsored by Barclays and Lodders – marked 27 years of FCN, and invited volunteers, supporters, friends, trustees, ambassadors, staff members and many others to come together and celebrate in fellowship and support for the charity.
Having been unable to celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2020 due to Covid, the event was a great opportunity to celebrate everything the charity has achieved to date, whilst looking to the future with positivity. Hearing stories on the day about how FCN has personally helped people within the room really demonstrated the importance of farming support charities. We were delighted to be joined by the other Farming Help charities (Addington Fund and Forage Aid) as well as many friends and representatives of other charities and organisations.
Food offerings were made during the event to the North Cotswold Foodbank, helping to provide support for local people facing food poverty this winter. Food donations from FCN weighed in at 30.32kg, and funds were raised as well. The Celebration Event was followed by our AGM, and the day concluded with our National Harvest Service. We would like to thank our speakers Rachael Aka, Sally Steadman, Emily Davies, Claire Worden, Brian Armstrong, Ben Briggs (Farmers Guardian), Mark Newman, Barbara Bray, Barbara Clutton and everyone else involved in making the day a success.
