Barclays National Head of Agriculture appointed FCN Chairman of Trustees

Mark Suthern, National Head of Agriculture with Barclays Bank, has been unanimously elected as the new Chairman of Trustees for the Farming Community Network (FCN).

Mark was originally appointed to the FCN Board of Trustees 18 months ago and has a wealth of experience in the agricultural industry. As National Head of Agriculture for Barclays Bank, Mark leads a team of 200 colleagues within the UK focused entirely on Farming, Landed Estates, Agri-Tech and Energy & Environment. He is also a member of The Farmers Club, a Council Member with the Institute of Agricultural Management and a member of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society.

Mark takes over as Chairman from Graham Lilley, who stepped down in May 2017.

Mark said: “As a charity supporting farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times, The Farming Community Network is a very important voluntary organisation. As the new Chair I am committed to help FCN survive and thrive at a time when I truly believe we will see increased demand for the support we provide so successfully. The strength of the organisation is our network of over 400 volunteers across England and Wales, many of whom are involved in farming, or have close links with agriculture, and therefore have a great understanding of the issues regularly face – and when I am out and about it gives me real pleasure to meet and talk to many of the volunteers. I am pleased and willing to commit to work for the benefit of FCN.”
